Lauren Klementz-Harte
Trained in drawing and illustration, Lauren began a career in graphic design and editorial illustration which eventually led to work in children’s publishing and the educational market.
Quilting was a “creative outlet,” providing balance to the professional demand of making art to others’ specifications. The early experience of relying on life-long sewing skills to navigate construction of traditional patterns gave her a deep appreciation for the rich heritage of quilting. On the other hand, the interest in exploring unfamiliar techniques and a desire to apply her own design and compositional sensitivities have led her to embrace the modern aesthetic.
In 2018, Lauren launched her blog, creativelifesampler.blogspot.com, to share her enthusiasm for individual artistic expression and the creative process. Here you’ll find examples of creativity in every day life, documentation of travels, reactions to quotes and insights on creativity, and highlights of Lauren’s own creative journey.
Lauren’s work has been juried into QuiltCon 2022- 2025 and won second place for the Handwork category in QuiltCon 2024. Her work has also also appeared in Q=A=Q at the Schweinfurth Art Center, Auburn NY, in 2023- 2025, winning Best in Show in 2025.
