Original Design- “Q” Series
This series is based on segmenting the letter “Q” to create new contours which were then expanded, compressed or otherwise manipulated. These compositions were designed through preliminary sketches before their execution in fabric.
Improvisation
In my improvised compositions, I use fabric remnants from earlier projects which are produced during the hand appliqué and reverse appliqué processes. These random shapes combine to create new silhouettes, balancing shape with line. They are hand appliquéd and enhanced with hand quilted textures.
UpCycling- Silk Brushstrokes
Finding new ways to incorporate used textiles in my work, I’m maximizing the fabric properties of neckties to create dynamic compositions based on mark making.
